What a luxury it was to be able to stay in a beautiful hotel in London! I was unsure of when to post my review and write up of the amazing Resident Hotel in Soho due to entering the London Tier 4 just after I stayed there at the beginning of December. However, as we now know that hotels in England will be reopening in May, I thought now was the perfect time to share this hotel and add some hope for London staycations happening again soon! If you are planning on staying in London over the next few months you NEED to stay here – it was amazing.
Location:
As I mentioned I was luckily able to stay at the Resident Soho in December, it was so perfect for a Christmas shopping break trip. It’s proximity to Oxford Street meant you could walk to the Christmas lights and have all the shops within a 10 minute walk. I also knew I wanted to shoot some Christmassy content and if you follow me on instagram you will know how much I love Bond Street and Mayfair. During our 1 night stay, we walked to Mayfair a total of 4 times! It was a 15 minute walk which was incredibly convenient for me to shoot as I could head back to the hotel to change. If you love a luxury shop as much as I do then this hotel is an amazing find!
Shopping aside, the hotel is right in the centre of Soho meaning you have so many cafes, restaurants and bars all on the doorstep. The central location means you are only ever a stones throw away from food or activities. We wanted a quick cafe style breakfast the following morning and the hotel has a Joe and the Juice (my favourite!), a Pret and a Starbucks all within a 5 minute walk. If you are wanting a more luxe breakfast I highly recommend walking to Cecconi’s in Mayfair, they have my favourite eggs and who doesn’t want to sit people watching the morning away drinking a latte.
The room and hotel:
When it comes to the room, this hotel has a huge selling point – a mini kitchen. Each room comes kitted with a mini kitchen which is so unbelievably useful. It comes with a fridge, microwave, sink and of course all the plates and cutlery. Of course this means you can very easily eat in the room which is both a money saver but also if you are busy working and don’t want to have to go out to find food in a restaurant you can cater for yourself. This also means you can have romantic nights in watching films and eating in. You might think that you won’t need the mini kitchen if you want to eat out whilst staying in London but trust me, you will! Taken home some food from a restaurant meal you couldn’t finish? Reheat it in the microwave! Want a bottle of wine when you get in? A corkscrew is waiting as well as a fridge to make sure your rosé is ice cold. It is a game changer!
The room itself was also incredibly clean and practical. This was of course particularly important during Covid and this hotel was very Covid safe. Masks were worn and there were also screens at reception. The room also came with a seal on the door to show it had been cleaned thoroughly and antibacterial wipes were also provided.
The decor of the hotel was very stylish with lots of artwork and fun lamps and lighting. We actually arrived early before check in and the hotel team were incredibly helpful and managed to get our room ready early whilst they offered us a coffee to drink in the lobby.
Cost:
For the price this hotel is amazing! It feels incredibly modern and you get the mini kitchen option in the room which is a special feature and equally it can save you money on eating out. The price for how central the hotel is located also makes this a great find!
Overall comments:
I highly recommend this hotel. My stay was incredibly memorable, the hotel location is absolutely perfect and the hotel is practical yet also luxury. The mini kitchen means on shoot days I can eat dinner in the room and work without having to spend extra money on eating out and also have more time to work. Definitely a central London gem!
