Last Friday (13th September) I was invited to attend the retro event in Chichester called Goodwood Revival. This weekend-long event is for car enthusiasts and retro lovers with a super fun period dress from the 1940s to the 1970s. I was so impressed when I arrived to see everyone had committed to the dress theme which made the beautiful layout of the event even more magical. As I stepped off the open-top old fashioned bus I was greeted with full immersion into a retro wonderland. The dresses and hair people were wearing were all so stunning and eclectic, and I was surrounded by the most beautiful cars and the sounds of barbershops singing in the streets. Of course, I needed to fit in so was lucky enough to get a hair makeover at Betty’s Salon with @allthingshairuk.
The salon itself was incredible, it felt just like a film set with the brightly coloured decor, rows of hair drying hoods, and shelves full of Tresemmé and VO5 products. The beautiful stylists were also setting the scene even more in their outfits and with their amazing hairstyles. I had already tried to get ‘retro ready’ at home using some of the products All Things Hair kindly provided me by creating lots of textured curls with Tresemmé mousse. My stylist Zoe (@bobbypinshairshop) could tell how I love having my hair down so we decided on a Bridgette Bardot inspired look – although a lil less messy.
Zoe began by creating Bridgette’s signature volume on the top with backcombing my hair in sections and adding the VO5 texture powder. She built up layers of backcombed sections and pinned them back one by one. A final smooth section was then added to hide all the backcombing and gently brushed through with layers of the VO5 hairspray (which smells like coconuts!). The front sections were then twisted back into a beautiful knot formation to frame my face and add something more special to the already gorgeous look. Finally, Zoe curled my hair and sprayed everything with some extra hold hair spray and I was now ‘retro ready’.
I then spent the rest of the day waltzing around all the gorgeous displays at Goodwood including getting to sit in LOTS of beautiful vintage cars. I also spent hours watching the racing events and felt just like I was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The whole day was an incredible experience and I’m so thankful to All Things Hair for taking me, as well as making me look the part.
