As you have probably noticed from my Instagram, I tend to spend many of my days in Mayfair. After a long shopping trip there is nothing more that I crave than an amazing (and filling) meal, so I was excited to find a Mayfair foodie gem called The Mayfair Chippy. Of course, I love the English classic of fish and chips with plenty of curry sauce and the Chippy didn’t disappoint. Located just a little walk from Bond Street tube is this posh fish and chip restaurant with a lovely tiled interior and seating outside for the al fresco dining that will be happening a lot more this autumn!

For the food I ordered the ‘Mayfair classic’ (£17.25) which is a piece of fish (I chose the cod), their amazing chips and then three different dips; tartare, mushy peas, and curry sauce. This option was fabulous for me as I love all three of those sauces, so this took away having to choose between them. Side note: I also ordered a large glass of rose because why on earth not!

The fish and chips came quickly and was presented in such a cute way, with the fish on top of the chips in the old-fashioned style paper, and then the three dips in their own mini copper saucepans on the wooden board. The food itself was hands down the best fish and chips I have ever eaten, EVER. Of course, this is a nice restaurant, so I wasn’t expecting the typical cheap fish and chip shop style and quality, however this truly beat all my expectations. The fish melted in your mouth, it just fell apart and was so tasty with the batter. The batter had the perfect amount of melting and crunch and was super fresh tasting. The chips were also incredible, they tasted so fresh and the portion was very generous. Then came the sauces, I would have to alternate which one I used as I could decide a favourite, they all individually were delicious. Curry sauce is usually my go-to so maybe that one had the slight advantage, it was a lovely consistency and almost added a sweetness to the meal.

Overall, I cannot recommend this place more! If you want fish and chips in central London, then 100% head here for them. The location is so convenient, and the atmosphere makes it a lovely date restaurant too. The best fish and chips ever.
*I feel very lucky to have been invited to review this restaurant, meaning the meal was complimentary, however all opinions are completely my own.
