Matthew Curtis Hair at The Rosewood

If you have been following me for a while you might have gathered, I love hair and all things hair related. Having a professional blow-dry is something I find so relaxing and such a treat, particularly before an event. I was offered to work with Matthew Curtis Hair on their exciting new gifting experiences and was lucky enough to give one of them a go. I received the ‘Blowdry and Bubbles’ package which does what it says on the tin, providing you with a luxury blowdry in a luxury setting. The Rosewood Hotel is located in Holborn and has a very exclusive feel to it. Matthew is also a very established and talented hairdresser with numerous celebrity clients.

The salon is downstairs by the spa and is themed to an old fashioned glam. On arrival I was greeted by Matthew himself and Danny who would be doing my hair, as I was also handed a lovely glass of champagne. I started off by receiving a consultation with Danny and Matthew. I have a tendency to always go for soft curls when I get a blowdry, I guess it my comfort zone as I just love having long flowing hair. Matthew wanted to push me and try something new so we actually decided we would do an updo. I was wearing a suit the evening I went to the salon, so Matthew chose a super-sleek powerful ponytail style.

Danny then removed my clip-in extensions and I moved over to the basin to have my hair washed. I barely remember this process as I was chatting away with Danny the whole time, however I remember the head massage! Once my hair was all clean and conditioned, it was time for the blowdry. As we previously decided on a sleek look, the blowdry was to get my hair super straight, including the use of straighteners. Next it is time for the fun bit: the ponytail.

As someone who never wears my hair up, my hair was so stubborn to get in a slicked back look. Matthew did not give up and put in so much time making sure my hair was absolutely perfect. Once my hair was completely flat to my head it was tied up and then it was time for my extensions to be added. I have to admit the hair extension request was because I did just want to look like Ariana Grande. When my weft was added and secured round my natural hair ponytail, I felt so confident and was already obsessed with the look. Matthew also went ahead and turned the look even more detailed by adding pearls in a pattern all around the base and up the ponytail. This look was INCREDIBLE. I went to a party straight after and people were also just as impressed as me, not to mention all the Instagram messages about it.

I was so impressed with the time and skill that went into this experience. I felt like I was at a fashion show getting a piece of art created with my hair. The champagne and setting were so luxury that it enhanced the amazing time that I had (and made a great background for pictures after getting your hair done).
