Heya beautiful, so this is an unusual blog post for me to be writing as I usually focus on reviews of clothing and beauty products. However, I have had a lot of questions recently about account growth so I thought me sharing my experience could be of help to at least one person.
Account Growth
About a month ago I reached 10K followers (I am now close to reaching 12K which I can’t believe), and since then many girls have messaged me asking for advice and how I did it. Although there is no ‘method’ I followed there are some tips that I can suggest. The first and most important thing is consistency. When it comes to posting, I found my account massively surged in both likes and followers when I started posting twice a day,
Closely connected to that idea of consistent and frequent posting is how often you are engaging with other accounts. Instagram to me is such a lovely community where I have made many online friends who I chat to everyday. This all comes from being incredibly active on the app, making sure I am catching up on my followers posts and liking and commenting back so that I am part of the community. This means you are reaching other people and also they are more likely to come back and increase your engagement too.
In terms of the posts themselves, this is of importance too but also varies significantly by account. For instance, for me posting a selfie or mirror selfie is not something that would do well for me however for others they have a consistent daily theme of posting mirror selfies. Establishing a consistent ‘brand’ is something which can assist in growing your account (although obviously being creative and switching it up is fun too). At the moment I like to post dresses and lots of quite formal outfits around London and keeping that pretty consistent so that my followers know that is what they will get on their feed every day if they follow me.
Working With Brands
Getting brand deals is a concept which comes with just as many questions as account growth, as I have been incredibly lucky to work with a lot of brands over the past year. In my personal life people around me such as friends and family are also interested in the sort of ‘behind the scenes’ aspect of how I work with brands. My routine with brands does genuinely vary. My first few gifted brand deals were just through the brands contacting me themselves via my email linked to my account or via DM. This is genuinely how I was working with brands for over a year, just waiting until they found me. It was only this summer when I decided to DM a bunch of brands myself and just hope for a response. To be honest with you, this has a very low success rate but for a lot of brands (particularly small UK based
I am usually very happy to work with bigger brands on a gifting basis just due to being excited to work with a big name as well as receiving clothes I would want to try out. I also believe that having as many new outfits on my Instagram feed helps with the growth of my account. Getting paid ads is still hard for me with my amount of followers however this does also happen and often they approach me telling me they are happy for me to charge a fee. I am still learning all the tricks of the trade myself when it comes to charging brands but hopefully, in the future, I will be able to share more of my knowledge.
