Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea at The Taj 51

“Curiouser and curiouser”

Alice in Wonderland is a story I have loved since my childhood as well as my love of all things Disney. I have seen this gorgeous themed afternoon teas that you can attend in London, so was delighted to be invited by BuyAGift and Red Letter Days to try the Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea at the 5* Taj 51 hotel by Buckingham Palace.

On arrival in this stunning hotel, with an almost Mediterranean feel, you are greeted and taken to your beautifully decorated table. The table is covered in large playing cards, flowers, drawings of scenes from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, pearls and even the Mad Hatter’s hat. You are then given the menu with the choice of so many teas as well as showing you all the amazing food you be receiving. I love attending afternoon tea as to me it is such a treat but often you get bored of the same sandwiches and plain fruit scones. With this Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea, you won’t be disappointed due to the exciting flavours and amount of ingenious food you receive.

With the sandwiches you get four different flavours as shown in the picture of the menu above. My favourite was by far the coronation chicken, it was so delicious. My second favourite was the cucumber on beetroot bread one as that it just such a clever idea to make plain looking sandwiches much more mad! For the scones, there were three varieties including the classic fruit scone, as well as a delicious honey scone but my favourite by far was the chocolate scone.

When it came to the cakes, these were really the showstoppers of the afternoon tea. You got five small and delicately decorated cakes, as well as a large pink coconut victoria sponge, and finally some ‘Drink Me’ strawberry smoothies. These cakes were perfect for me as most of them were chocolatey (or at least featured some chocolate decoration). The detailing on them was so amazing that you almost felt bad for destroying them (but trust me, they were too tasty not to eat).

Overall this afternoon tea is super fun if you are looking for a gift for someone or an alternative afternoon tea experience which is something different to the standard tea you would expect. I highly recommend this experience, myself and my mum will be returning ourselves.
