Last week I was invited to visit a Trichotherapist at the Philip Kingsley salon in Mayfair to receive a ‘holiday season hair repair’ treatment. When invited I was told that I could get healthy and shiny hair for party season. Of course I jumped at this opportunity as I am sure as one of my followers you would know that I love all things to do with hair and also love party season. Having shiny hair is something I truly love particularly getting that gorgeous shine back in a flash photo.
When I arrived at the ‘salon’ I was surprised to find it was located in a gorgeous Victorian style house in Mayfair (close to Bond Street tube station). I was greeted in the reception before being taken upstairs to the actual salon room. Much like the outside, the inside of the building was gorgeous with a fireplace right in the salon room. Each client sits in a segment of a circle making the treatments almost private and super relaxing. Laura was my Trichotherapist and so lovely and also very informative and helpful. I discussed with her my hair and scalp concerns which were mainly bleach damage on my hair and general winter dryness on my scalp. She then tailored all my treatments to my requirements and hair type and began.
The experience was essentially lots of different hair and scalp treatments and spoilers: it left my hair incredible. To start off with I used the pre shampoo treatment which of course Philip Kingsley is famous for which is the Elasticizer (I highly recommend the pomegranate and cassis scent). I also had the scalp treatment applied and was put under a steam hood for approximately 20 minutes so that the products could fully penetrate into my hair.
This was then rinsed off and then the Blonde Booster range was used. The Blonde Booster collection is a purple range for removing brassy tones and consists of a once a week shampoo and a daily use conditioner. Once ready to be dried lots more after products were applied. A tonic was put throughout my scalp to help balance the pH and is antimicrobial. Then a couple of smoothing and shine products were used too to help get the ultimate frizz free shine. Something I found so interesting was the paddle brush Laura used which had large holes in it, which she explained is so the air can move through and prevent the brush heating up and damaging your hair. Another piece of important wisdom Laura shared with me and is food for thought for all of us is the idea that the scalp is an extension of our face. We use lots of creams and serums etc to help look after our face skin but why don’t we therefore take good care of our scalps?
I think the before and after photos say it all. As someone that wears hair extensions every single day, this was the first time I felt confident with the condition and feel of my natural hair in a very long time. I also was lucky enough to take some of the products home with me to continue the amazing work that the salon did. This treatment usually costs £90 and I highly recommend it for a relaxing treat and to give dull hair a boost
This experience was complimentary for review, however as always opinions are my own.
